At CARIFY, the primary driver must be authorized by the company to operate the vehicle. However, anyone with a driving license that is valid in Switzerland is allowed to drive the company car within Switzerland and is equally covered by company car’s insurance (For young drivers the deductible might be higher). For private trips abroad with the company car, only individuals with Swiss residency are allowed to drive the car while for business trips abroad, even non-Swiss residents are able to drive the company car.
A company car can be beneficial for employees when a vehicle is frequently needed for business trips, making options like Uber or Mobility impractical and expensive. It is also worthwhile if employees personally find a vehicle useful and wish to leverage tax benefits through the company.
The costs of a company car vary depending on the model, features, and the agreement between the employee and employer. However, it is generally ensured that the costs remain within the company budget and meet operational requirements. A company car may not be worthwhile for employees for whom owning a car is generally not economically reasonable or those considering changing employers in the near future. Even though subscriptions are available with a one-month minimum duration and the tax advantages and additional benefits of the company car can have a positive impact, it may be less attractive for some life and work situations to obtain a car neither privately nor through a company.
The decision between a higher salary and a company car depends on whether a vehicle is needed or desired, and thus, it relies on the individual needs and circumstances of the employee. While a higher salary offers more flexibility which merit of transportation to choose, opting for a company car is economically sensible, due to tax benefits and fuel expenses when a car is wanted anyways. We do offer a preliminary calculation upon request for you but advise to ask your tax consultant when in doubt.
With the CARIFY car subscription, everything except the fuel is encompassed in a fixed monthly rate and you can fully deduct this rate from your taxes, similar to how you would with a leasing rate. However, with the car subscription additional services and extras are already included, making it slightly superior.
