After 20 years of Hyundai's foundation in 1947, the company left the construction business and entered the vehicle market. The first car they manufactured was called "Ford Cortina". Some years later, Hyundai started to produce its own vehicles under its own brand.
The first own car was the Hyundai Pony in 1974, which was presented at the Turin Motor Show. In 1982, Hyundai released a taxi version of the Pony, which was awarded for running on natural gas.
The name of the South Korean car manufacturer has a meaning. The term Hyundai means modern or modern age.
That Hyundai is a modern and progressive brand can be seen time and again. In 2019, for example, the all-new Hyundai KONA electric was voted the greenest car in Switzerland.
In the same year, Hyundai also won the Innovation Prize of the Car Environment List of the Swiss Transport Club. A decisive factor in the choice was the large selection of models with alternative drive systems.
Often it is difficult to choose the right car and often there are some things you want to try before. Especially at Hyundai the choice is huge. Not only the vehicles are very different but also the drive technologies. With a purchase or lease you miss this huge choice and variety. On top of that, there are a lot of administrative tasks, such as taking out insurance, enrolment, etc.
In contrast to this, with a Hyundai everything is included in the subscription. From taxes, service, insurance to tire change. The best thing about it is that depending on the chosen minimum term, the car can be changed monthly.

In the automotive industry, it has long been a fact that a great deal of raw material that has just been processed comes from suppliers. Not so with Hyundai. The South Koreans are one of the few car manufacturers who produce their own steel. This allows the value chain and quality to be monitored from start to finish.
Hyundai is also going its own way in the battery sector, in cooperation with Kia. While other car manufacturers use conventional standard batteries, Hyundai and Kia use lithium polymer batteries for their electric cars. This battery is lighter and has a better performance.
Hyundai is not only responsible to its customers. Hyundai runs the organization Hyundai Hope on Wheels - a non-profit organization - which collects money to fight cancer in children. Launched in 1998 as a local initiative in New England, the organization has grown to date and has raised over $100 million.
